It’s easy for us as society to see
an individual in a wheelchair and recognize the challenge
presented by a flight of stairs and the need for a ramp. Neurological
differences, however, are much harder for us to understand. While
we can project how it might feel to be confined to a wheelchair,
it is nearly impossible to imagine being neurologically different.
Neurotypical originates
from the shared experiences of our family with the autistic
population in North Carolina over the past 20 years. Working
closely with autistics of all ages and abilities has given
us a profound respect and affection for this culture.
